It is hard not to think of the new year as a chance to reset. 2012 was not the easiest year of my life – I faced loss, hardship, and injury – but it wasn’t all bad either. I learned a lot about myself, and I grew.
Moving into 2013, I want to remember to make choices that move me toward a fuller life. I don’t want to live in fear or stay in my comfort zone, but instead to reach out and embrace challenges. When I look back upon this year (and my life), I want to do so with satisfaction (and, perhaps, a wry smile).
Specific goals (including my most pressing goal race) can wait a day or two. I want to bask in the newness of this year – this fresh start.
